Dario Chemerinski
Director, International Division, Calvo

Dario Chemerinski (49) is an Economist graduated from University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been living in Brazil since 1999, first in Rio de Janeiro and currently based in São Paulo City.

For the past 20 years, Dario has held different positions in International Sales & Marketing for FMCG companies such as Cinzano, Cadbury Stani, BP Castrol and Jugos Del Valle, mostly dedicated to the Development of International Business.

Dario has entered the Seafood Business in 2005 when he joined Gomes da Costa (Brazil) as the Export Manager. When the company was fullly acquired by Calvo Group in 2008, he become responsible for the International Division of Calvo. He considers the Seafood business, and especially the tuna category, as fascinating and very challenging.

His 3 main objectives with his team have been:

  1. developing the global canned tuna and sardine business
  2. consolidating and opening new markets for the company across the 5 continents through a multichannel/multibrand strategy
  3. establishing all 3 brands of the company (Calvo, Gomes da Costa, Nostromo) as strong and innovative players in each market where they compete, via effective market segmentation

Dario contributes regularly to the Infofish/InfoPesca Canned Seafood section.

He is married to Barbara and has 2 children, Sofia & ILan.
