Conxemar
She is the Director General of Conxemar, the leading Spanish association representing the aquatic products sector, including seafood importers, exporters, processors, and cold storage companies. Conxemar plays a strategic role in industry representation at national, European, and international levels, organizes one of the world’s premier aquatic trade exhibitions, and co-organizes a high-level international congress on food security in high-value aquatic protein, in collaboration with FAO and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).
A biologist with over 25 years of experience in the food industry, she began her career working on factory floors, covering all processes—including canning, frozen, produce, and ready-to-eat across various countries, gaining extensive hands-on experience across the food and beverage sectors. She progressively advanced into senior technical and leadership roles in food safety, quality management, regulatory compliance, and auditing, consolidating her expertise as a third-party auditor conducting audits all over the world for leading international standards, including Tesco, BRC, MSC, and other globally recognized certification schemes.
She serves as President of the Market Advisory Council (MAC), a Brussels-based European advisory body providing advice to the European Commission and EU Member States on fishery and aquaculture market matters, and is also the Vice-President of Seafood Europe.
